As the world celebrates International Women’s Day, many stories are shared about bold leadership, public achievements, and women who have made history through visible acts of courage. But courage does not always look loud.

There is a quiet moment most mornings in the Creative Hands studio. Before the looms begin their steady rhythm and before threads are stretched into place, we pause. We breathe. We give thanks. In that stillness, we are reminded that healing rarely happens in isolation. It happens in presence — in shared space, shared burdens, and shared hope.

or many refugee women, the journey to safety does not end when they reach a new country. In many ways, a new journey begins — one marked by uncertainty, loneliness, cultural barriers, and the challenge of rebuilding life far from home.

I am reminded of why we began Creative Hands in the first place — to be a place where compassion meets creativity, and where faith is lived out through tangible acts of love.

At Creative Hands, every product tells a story — not only of artistry and tradition but of resilience, courage, and transformation. You are directly supporting women on their journey toward independence, dignity, and hope.

This September, Creative Hands is honored to deepen our craft through immersive training in the age-old art of Tsakonian Weaving, at Tsakonika Ifanta.

In a world filled with mass-produced goods, a handwoven piece stands apart. It carries more than just form and function — it carries intention, craftsmanship, and human dignity.

At Creative Hands, we believe that weaving is more than a traditional craft. It is a quiet, powerful act of resistance against mass production and exploitation. It’s a choice to honor time, process, and people.

When we started Creative Hands, we didn’t have a detailed roadmap—just a deep desire to help women who had experienced hardship and displacement. We knew we wanted to be part of their healing and growth, whether through language learning, sewing, weaving, or exploring the rich cultural heritage of Greece. But we had no idea how those dreams would unfold.

I love this time of year as it reminds me through the flowers that are coming out that new life is being born right before our eyes and this year has been especially true as I have reflected on a lot of new that is taking place both in my personal life and the life of Creative Hands.

The women who have come through our doors are courageous, bold, and vulnerable and I know it is God’s grace upon each of us.

Sometimes I wonder what or how life would look like today had I not said yes to God’s prompting to learn how to weave..

Reflecting on 2024 at Creative Hands in Greece, I would like to share some exciting things that God has done!
