It was humbling to watch the Dutch Ambassador Barbara van Hellemond interact with our women and children and to listen as the women shared some of their stories.

We are excited to share that this week, the women of Creative Hands and a group of Roma women from the Petalouda Education Program, led by our dear friend Sarah Wheway, will be participating in a Natural Dyeing Workshop.

Lately at Creative Hands, we have been focusing on trying new patterns—designs we have never attempted before. I have been so encouraged throughout this process. I had nothing to do with how the women set up the looms; instead, I simply presented the designs and have been amazed by what they have been able to accomplish.

The Creative Hands Spring 2026 Collection is a celebration of fresh beginnings, soft tones, and meaningful design.

We exist to empower women in order for them to live sustainably. We are here to help displaced women find their footing and start on a journey that builds their sense of value, dignity, worth and we believe that when we train them in the skills we offer there is a discovery of what they are capable of doing with their hands.

I have found that by the simple act of providing a place to learn with other women, there is a sense that develops within the women that their lives matter, the work they do matters and that their lives are important to us.

Human dignity matters to all and for our women at Creative Hands we recognize that through the work they do these women have the freedom to seek paths that help them and their children begin the healing process as they integrate into the community.

As the world celebrates International Women’s Day, many stories are shared about bold leadership, public achievements, and women who have made history through visible acts of courage. But courage does not always look loud.

There is a quiet moment most mornings in the Creative Hands studio. Before the looms begin their steady rhythm and before threads are stretched into place, we pause. We breathe. We give thanks. In that stillness, we are reminded that healing rarely happens in isolation. It happens in presence — in shared space, shared burdens, and shared hope.

or many refugee women, the journey to safety does not end when they reach a new country. In many ways, a new journey begins — one marked by uncertainty, loneliness, cultural barriers, and the challenge of rebuilding life far from home.

As we reflect on 2025, we are filled with gratitude for the women who walked through our doors. These women arrived in Greece from different nations, carrying stories of hardship. They came seeking safety and a better life.

As we enter the Christmas season, my heart has been resting on the journey of Mary, the mother of Jesus. She was young, far from home, and carrying a child in circumstances filled with uncertainty. Yet in the middle of all that, she said yes. She trusted God’s leading, even when the path was unfamiliar.

I do not know about you, my friend, but I often find strength in looking back at the many things God has done and at the Bible verses He has spoken—words that carried me through places I never thought I would be able to walk.
