God Is Faithful

ree

This morning, I am sitting at Prague International Airport waiting for my next flight that will take me back home to Athens. As I wait, my heart and mind are reflecting on the faithfulness of God—how He has carried me personally, and how He has carried the women at Creative Hands through every season.

I do not know about you, my friend, but I often find strength in looking back at the many things God has done and at the Bible verses He has spoken—words that carried me through places I never thought I would be able to walk.

I remember coming across these verses in 2019:

Jeremiah 32:26 (NKJV)“Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying, ‘Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?’”

And then this passage:

Jeremiah 32:36–42 (TPT)“YAHWEH, God of Israel says, ‘You say that because of war, plague, and food shortages, Jerusalem will fall and be handed over to the king of Babylon. But this is what YAHWEH, the God of Israel, says: I will graciously regather the people of Jerusalem, although I was previously filled with anger and scattered them in foreign countries by my great indignation. Yes, I will bring them back to this place, and they will live under my protection. Then they will be my people, and I will be their God.I will give them one single purpose and one wonderful way to live so that they will always honor Me, for their own good and for the good of their descendants. I will make an everlasting covenant with them, and I will never stop doing good things for them. I will inspire them to honor and respect Me so that they will never walk away from Me again. What delight I will have in doing good things for them! With all My heart and soul, I promise that they will be planted firmly in this land once again. For YAHWEH promises: Just as I have brought great disaster on the people, I will someday do all these things for them.”

This long passage became a source of deep encouragement to me, especially during times when everything around me seemed marked by uncertainty and despair. God often uses His word to pull our focus back to what He is doing, regardless of what the outward circumstances look like.

When I first read the above passage, Creative Hands was facing significant unknowns. We began this project to serve the refugee community, yet the nearby camps were being closed or had already shut down. There were still refugees in Greece, but no longer near us. Partners in the NGO community encouraged us to move closer to the city center. During that period of uncertainty, God gave me a promise: to stay. He reminded me that He is the one who brings the people. It brought to mind the line from the old movie The Field of Dreams: “If you build it, he will come.”

God gave us the strength to stand still and wait through the unknown. And He was faithful. Women began reaching out from different places—calling, texting, sending messages on social media—and slowly but surely, the work began to grow. Not only is Creative Hands expanding in practical ways, but we are also witnessing God at work in each woman’s life. Some grow slowly, some seem not to grow at all, but we trust that God is doing a deep and lasting work in them.

Every day, I watch with amazement as God does good to us through Creative Hands. It reminds me that while we may not understand everything He is doing, He is watching over us with love and purpose. I am especially moved by Jeremiah 32:41 (NKJV):“Yes, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will assuredly plant them in this land, with all My heart and with all My soul.”

My prayer for you, my friend, is that you will be encouraged to be fruitful in the place where you find yourself—even if it is not where you expected to be. God is watching over you. He is faithful.
