Hello there!
It has been a long time since we sat and chatted with you a bit on what is happening in our neck of the woods. It is not that there is nothing happening, but it is just that there is so much and sometimes Cecilia has to handle most of it and she gets tired and overwhelmed to take care of everything. Having said that, allow me to give a shout out to Elizabeth Antonellou our web manager. This post is dedicated to her.
I met Elizabeth almost 14 years ago when I first moved to Greece. She was one of the teachers at the Christian School where I got to volunteer at. Her mother was the principal and I got to know Elizabeth a bit during that time and then our friendship grew over the years. She then moved to the island where she now lives with her husband and two daughters. One thing I have loved and appreciated about her is that she has always believed in me and the calling that is upon my life to help marginalized women. I have always known that she prays for me although she was not practically involved. However, last year when I sat down and thought of how we could change and become better at what we are doing and what we are offering people, I realized and knew one of the areas we needed to start at was our website. Through prayers and talking with different people, some who were potentials none just did not seem the right fit for us and I had totally forgotten about Elizabeth being a Web developer and manager because that is her specialty.
It is amazing the places where God speaks to us and sometimes he catches our attention in the most unlikely places. It was during a trip to the USA in October-November 2022 and I was going to catch my connecting flight to another city that I thought of calling her to ask if she would be interested in helping out. I remember walking to my gate and talking to her on the phone at the same time because I knew if I did not do it then, I would probably forget or get hesitant because we did not have a lot to offer her. So, we spoke and shared what we were looking for and a few weeks later, after I got back to Greece, she agreed to join us as the web manager but a very low salary because we could not offer much. You are reading this on the website and you can see the tremendous work she has done. I am truly grateful and I pray that we will continue on this journey together. Not only does she manage the website, she also makes sure that I am on top of the game with everything from products, communication and my relationships with the women and others.
Elizabeth, I am truly grateful to have you not only in my life but in the life of us all at Creative Hands. Thank you!
Cecilia on behalf of the Creative Hands team.
